Origin
An ancient breed, the Great Pyrenees’ remains were found in fossil deposits from the Bronze Age, around 1800 to 1000 B.C. French royalty were fond of the Great Pyrenees, adopting him as a French court dog in the 17th century.
Personality
Although affectionate with his family, the breed can be territorial, aggressive toward other dogs and reserved with strangers.
Grooming
Considerable, thick double coat that sheds year-round.
